João is an alumnus of the prestigious Portuguese academy Sporting. Until 2012, Paredes played in different age group teams of Sporting, reaching the U17 national team.
Before moving to Pyunik, João played only in Portugal. The footballer played for the youth teams of Academia, Vitoria and Chaves. The forward has also played for Anadia, Vizela, Mafra, Chaves, Trofense, Leiria, Oliveirense and Feirense.
