Karlen Hovhannisyan leaves Pyunik

We announce that Pyunik midfielder Karlen Hovhannisyan is joining Russian club Akron. The two clubs have reached an agreement on the player’s transfer.

Karlen is one of the finest players to have come through our academy in recent years. He made significant progress year after year, establishing himself not only in Pyunik’s main team but also becoming one of the team’s key players.

The talented footballer became the Armenian U18 champion with Pyunik-05 in the 2021/22 season. During the same season, Karlen Hovhannisyan began playing for Pyunik Academy, which competed in the Armenian First League.

On May 28, 2022, Karlen made his debut for Pyunik’s main team in the final round of the Armenian Premier League against Alashkert Yerevan (1:1). One round earlier, Pyunik had been crowned Armenian champions for the 15th time.

In autumn 2022, he represented Pyunik’s U18 team in the first round of the UEFA Youth League against French club Nantes, serving as the team captain.

In July 2023, Karlen joined BKMA, where he played for two seasons during his military service. He made 53 appearances for the Army club, scoring 4 goals and providing 1 assist.

In June 2025, following the completion of his military service, Karlen returned to his home club and quickly established himself in Pyunik’s starting lineup. Thanks to his successful and consistent performances, he was named our team’s Player of the Season last season.

In total, the 21-year-old midfielder made 38 appearances for Pyunik, scoring 2 goals and providing 1 assist.

During his time at Pyunik, Karlen was also called up to the Armenia national team and made his debut for the national side on March 29 of this year in a friendly match against Belarus.

We would like to thank Karlen Hovhannisyan for the years he spent at our club and for his tremendous dedication on the pitch. We wish our academy graduate every success and we are confident that he will achieve significant success in his career.
