Following the 3-0 victory over Gandzasar in Round 11 of the Armenian Premier League, Pyunik's head coach, Dmitry Gunko, shared his thoughts on the match and answered journalists' questions.
"Today, a losing streak in our coaching rivalry with Artashes Adamyan has finally come to an end. Back when I was working at Urartu, we lost to Lernayin Artsakh, whom he managed at the time. The following season, we fell to West Armenia, also coached by Adamyan. And if I'm not mistaken, we lost to that team in all three rounds of the championship, even though all those matches followed a similar scenario. But today, we clearly understood that FC Pyunik would help me as a coach break this streak.
I believed in the guys and knew the match would be tough. But the team showed patience, diligence, and great discipline. That is exactly why we managed to score the opening goal, after which the game naturally opened up, allowing us to net two more. Although, we could have scored even more had we brought two or three of our attacks to their logical conclusion.
Naturally, it is excellent that the new stadium is in the immediate vicinity of our training ground — literally five meters away. So, of course, you couldn't find a better place for home matches. However, it would be even more convenient if it belonged to us."
