On the 22nd match day of the Armenian Premier Legue Pyunik will travel to Gyumri where it will affront Shirak. After the painful defeat from Ararat-Armenia of the previous match day our team retreated to the 4th place in the standings. It allowed Ararat-Armenia to move ahead of Pyunik as well as gave Lori Vanadzor a chance to stand almost near our team.
From the point of view of keeping up with the championship race it’s extremely important for our team to register a positive result against Shirak as the championship has gradually entered a decisive phase and any match is of a crucial importance.
In the current Armenian Premier League though it seems surprising our team has mostly succeeded in away matches: Pyunik has earned 20 points out of the present 30 on the opponent’s pitch. It’s worth noting that here Pyunik along with Ararat-Armenia has the best result among the championship teams (20 points). Moreover, our team celebrated its first, strong-willed, away win against Shirak in Gyumri 2-1. As for the second round match Pyunik managed to avoid a loss thanks to Maksim Zhestokov’s goal during the extra time.
Midfielder Makym Trusevich who missed the previous match because of being disqualified now will be able to participate in the upcoming game against Shirak. One of our team’s key players, Erik Vardanyan, after recovering of an injury, is gradually getting in shape.
