Arthur Arsham Soghomonyan was born on June 15, 1967 in Yerevan (Armenia) in a military family. The Soghomonyans are from Noratus village of Gegharkunik province. Arthur Soghomonyan’s father, ArshamSoghomonyan, was born in Noratus. He was a military pilot. The school of Noratus was named after ArshamSoghomonyan. Two years after Arthur’s birth the Soghomonyan’s moved to Leningrad (now Saint Petersburg), then to Moscow.In 1984 Arthur Soghomonyan finished MytishchiSecondaryschool. From childhood Arthur was engaged in football. In 1984 he entered the second team of Lokomotiv and spent several matches. But between football and education Soghomonyan chose education and that same year entered the facultyof Applied Mathematics of MoscowInstituteofElectronicsandMathematics and graduated it in 1992. From 1985 to 1987 he served in the Soviet Armed Forces. In 1999 Arthur Soghomonyan graduated from the National Academy of Economics (finance and economy). In 2003 he received an academic degree of candidate of economic sciences.
In 1992 Arthur Soghomonyanwith his university friends founded Foamline company, which holds a leading position in the production of PU-foam in Eastern Europe. The company has 12 factories in Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Serbia.
At the end of 2017 Arthur Soghomonyanpurchased Yerevan football club Pyunik. Arthur Soghomonyan is also a member of the Supreme Council of the"Business Russia”organization. In 2018 he was appointed the ambassador of the organization to Armenia.
Arthur Soghomonyan is also actively engaged in charity. Along with Nikita Simonyan he has opened the Support Fund of Soviet Union Sports Veterans. Since 1995 he is the sponsor of ArmenJigarkhanyanTeatre. In 2001 Arthur Soghomonyan organized a football match dedicated to the 75th anniversary of Nikita Simonyan.
In 2003 an event sponsored by Soghomonyan was organized on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Ararat-73 victory. In 2015 Arthur Soghomonyanorganized a legends match in Yerevan for the USSR team and on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of Ararat-73 legendary footballer, KhorenHovhannisyan. Ivan Zamorano, Vincent Candela, GennaroGattuso, HristoStoichkov, Paolo Ferreira, Aldair and many other legendary footballers took part in the match. Soghomonyan organized another Legends match in Yerevan in 2018 dedicated to the 2800th anniversary of foundation of Yerevan. Then Cafu, Ronaldo, Rivaldo, Ryan Giggs, HernanCrespo, Paolo Maldioni, Dida and many other legends arrived in Yerevan.
In 2017 Arthur Soghomonyan purchased Pyunik. As a result of the 2017/2018 season the club qualified for the UEFA Europa League where it registered a historical result. On the eve of the European Cup matches the team became headed by Russian famous coach Andrei Talalayev.Pyunik was also replenished with several Armenian and foreign footballers such as RumyanHovsepyan, MaksymTrusevych, MohamedKonaté, VitaliStezhko, VyacheslavDmitriyev, MaksimZhestokov, YevgeniKobozev and AndrijaDragojević. Before the 2018/19 season no Armenian club had managed to reach the third round of the European Cup. Pyunik became the first club to achieve such a result. The team overcame the obstacles of Vardar Skopjeand TobolKostanay. It failed to win Maccabi Tel Aviv. Arthur Soghomonyan plans to build a stadium, a football academy and a boarding house which will be the first of its kind in Armenia.
