In the central match of the 29th day of the Armenian Premier League Pyunik hosted Alashkert.

In the current championship our team spent their first home match on the pitch of the Football Academy of Etchmiadzin.

The first 15 minutes of the match lacked activity and both teams were passive.

Our team launched their first attack on the 17th minute when Sergei Shevchuk invaded the penalty area from the left wing and after his pass Alashkert’s defenders could eliminate the ball on the last minute.

Soon after Pyunik’s corner kick the guests’ penalty area was a mass but this time our team failed again.

Denis Talalay’s long distance shot on the 30th minute was close to the aim but the ball went a little higher over the horizontal post. It was our team’s most probable chance of the first half.

Alashkert answered with Damahou’s kick which was inaccurate.

Before going to the break Pyunik got a right for a penalty kick but Sergei Shevchuk’s shot was weak and Ognen Chancharevich easily caught the ball.

The second half unlike the first started very stormy and the two teams created very dangerous moments during the first minute. First after Ghukas Poghosyan’s long range kick Andrija Dragoevich saved Pyunik, then as a result of a quick counterattack Erik Vardanyan took an attacking position and tried to seize the right far corner but the ball passed by the post and appeared out of the pitch.

On the 58th minute Pyunik played a quick combination after which Erik Vardanyan ingeniously passed the ball to Sergei Shevchuk but the last one’s kick was a little skew again.

Already on the 66th minute Alashket’s footballers had a good chance to open the score when Urosh Nenadovich was speeding ahead but Andrija Dragoevich facing him eliminated the ball.

On the 78th minute Mohamed Konate entered the pitch instead of Usman and from the first seconds due to his very participation Pyunik managed to advance in the score. Sergei Shevchuk passed the ball to the penalty area from a corner where after Mohamed Konate’s header it hit one of Alashkert’s players and appeared in the goal, 1-0.

Though during the remaining period Alashkert was trying to equalize the score Pyunik could bring the match to a victorious end.

Thanks to this victory Pyunik managed to gain 3 very important points in the championship race and reach the second position of the standings.
