Pyunik continues its pre-season training camp in Georgia, and during that time it plays friendly matches with the teams of the Erovnuli League, the main championship of the country. On July 3, our guys will compete with Telavi, and we are closely examining the path and successes of this club.
In 2014, Kakheti, as a regional club, was relegated to the 3rd league of Georgian football due to financial difficulties and was soon dissolved.
As they say in Telavi, on one beautiful day in 2016, former Georgian footballers Irakli Vashakidze, Soso Grishikashvili and Aleksandre Amisulashvili sat down, decided and founded a club that would achieve great success through continuous work.
In 2017, Telavi got the opportunity to participate in the 3rd league of Georgia for the first time. Consistently developing success, Telavi 4 years after its foundation, in 2020 for the first time participated in the country's strongest championship, the Erovnuli League.
It seems that Pyunik and Telavi have nothing in common. In March 2023, the former head coach of our team Vardan Minasyan coached the Georgian club for one month.
Besides, the head of the selection department of the Georgian club is also an Armenian, Valeriy Hovhannisyan who had been in the charge of the Pyunik media team back in 2011.
Telavi spent 3 seasons in the Erovnuli League, playing best on the 6th position. In the current season, the team places last with 11 points in 19 games.
