In the 20th day of the Fastex Armenian Premier League, which resumed after the winter break, Pyunik hosted Alashkert.
From the very beginning, Pyunik's newcomer Joel Bopesu and Varazdat Haroyan, who has returned to the team after a long break and retaken the position of the team captain, entered the pitch.
The first dangerous moment of the match was created by the hosts, when Stanislav Buchnev deflected Chapi Cato’s shot with great difficulty.
In the 20th minute, Pyunik could have already taken the lead, but Agdon Menezes failed to handle Yusuf Otubanjo's pass from an advantageous position.
However, a minute later, Agdon Menezes succeeded in his efforts to open the score.
Sani Buhari broke through the rival’s defense from the left wing and addressed the ball to Menezes, who scored from close range into the Alashkert goal.
After the conceded goal, the Alashkert players tried to regain the loss and seriously threatened the Pyunik goal twice within a minute.
In the middle of the second half, the hosts had two more good opportunities to equalize the score, but in one case, Gevorg Tarakhchyan's dangerous shot was slightly wide, then seconds later, during the next attack of Alashkert, the ball was deflected off the goalpost of our team.
15 minutes before the end of the game, Yeghishe Melikyan brought another two Pyunik newcomers onto the pitch, Daniil Kulikov and Matas Vareika. In the 81st minute, Sani Buhari could have doubled the score, but Gor Manukyan saved his team.
Finally, in the last minute of added time, Yusuf Otubanjo provided a great pass to Matas Vareika, who scored the final goal. The Lithuanian footballer celebrated his debut for Pyunik with this goal.
