Pyunik qualifies for the quarterfinals of the cup

Pyunik has started performing in the 2025/26 Armenian Cup. In the 1/8 finals, Gandzasar was our team's opponent, with whom they had competed 4 days earlier in the championship.

The match was accompanied by heavy rain, but the pace of the game was quite high. From the very beginning of the game, Pyunik 's playing and territorial advantage was emphasized, and our players acted with high enthusiasm.

The score remained unopened in the first half, although Pyunik had several good opportunities to score. In particular, Gevorg Tarakhchyan, Matas Vareika and Daniil Kulikov could have stood out for our team.

In the 31st minute, Pyunik even took the lead thanks to Mikhail Kovalenko’s well-aimed shot, but the referee disallowed the goal, as Marius Noubissi had been offside by then.

After the break, Noubissi and Vareika threatened Gandzasar's goal once each, but in both cases, the opponent's goalkeeper Grigory Matevosyan was in his place.

In the 52nd minute, Pyunik's persistence gave its fruits. After Matas Vareika’s pass, Marius Noubissi scored from close range, making the score 1-0. The Cameroonian forward has recently recovered his ability to aim, scoring 5 goals in 4 games.

In the 61st minute, Noubissi again attacked the goal, and Grigori Matevosyan pushed the ball back with a difficulty, but Daniil Kulikov, who had caught up with him, doubled our team's advantage, 2-0.

And in the 82nd minute, Mikhail Kovalenko put an end to the game, finishing off Lucas Villela's pass with a header.

Pyunik celebrated a confident win, 3-0, and qualified for the quarterfinals of the cup.
