In the 12th round of the Fastex Premier League, Pyunik faced BKMA at the Avan Football Academy.
Already in the 8th minute of the match, our team could have opened the score after Filipe Almeida’s shot but BKMA captain Argishti Petrosyan removed the ball from an empty net.
However, in the 12th minute, Pyunik managed to undertake a successful attack; after a beautiful three-step combination by Javi Moreno-Alemao-Eric Okansey, the Ghanaian footballer sent an unstoppable ball into the BKMA goal – 0-1.
In the 38th minute, Marius Noubissi, receiving the ball from Grenik Petrosyan in the opponent’s half, broke into the penalty area, but failed to complete the attack.
The first 15 minutes of the second half passed with a tangible advantage for the army team, and it was no coincidence that in the 57th minute, thanks to Artur Askaryan’s goal, they managed to equalize the score of the game, 1-1.
Just 2 minutes after the missed goal, Pyunik had a great chance to take the lead again, and the substitute players had their contribution in it. After a good pass from Sargis Metoyan, Matas Vareika’s shot went wide of the goalpost.
During the next attack, Eris Okansey missed a favorable moment, facing the goalkeeper alone and hitting him directly.
Fortunately, our team's persistence paid off; In the 64th minute BKMA defender Suren Tsarukyan fouled Javi Moreno, and the victim himself accurately scored the penalty kick, 1-2.
During the remained time of the game, the teams created one real chance each at each other's goal post, but the score didn’t change.
Thanks to this victory, our team temporarily rose to the third position in the standings with 22 points.
Pyunik will play their next game on November 21, visiting Urartu.
