Pyunik and Noah play out goalless draw

In a one of the key match of the Fastex Premier League’s 24th round, Pyunik faced the reigning champions, Noah, away at the Abovyan City Stadium.

The match was a match important for both sides, as any dropped points in the champions race could prove costly.

The hosts had a golden opportunity to open the scoring early on: following a corner from Marin Jakoliš, Daniil Kulikov managed to block a shot from an unmarked Hélder Ferreira.

A few minutes later, Momo Yansané found himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper; his shot from a tight angle hit the post, though the referee eventually signaled for offside. Shortly after, Javi Moreno took charge, but his effort was gathered by Koneglian.

In the 23rd minute, David Sualehe crossed from the left wing into our team’s box, where Nardin Mulahusejnović flicked the ball back with his heel. Hovhannes Hambardzumyan’s subsequent strike narrowly missed the target. Just a minute later, Sualehe made another cross, but Mulahusejnović header fortunately went wide.

In the 35th minute, luck favored Noah: Mikhail Kovalenko, receiving the ball from Eric Ocansey, burst into the box and made a beautiful 'rabona' pass to Momo Yansané. However, the latter fired straight at the keeper, and the ball miraculously stayed out of the goal. This was undoubtedly our team’s best chance of the match.

In the 54th minute, Noah midfielder Aram Khamoyan managed to find the back of our net with a precise strike. However, referee Henrik Nalbandyan overturned the goal after a VAR review, ruling that Gustavo Sangaré had fouled Serhiy Vakulenko earlier in the play. Vakulenko was forced to leave the pitch due to injury.

Two minutes before the end of regulation, substitute Matheus Aiás had a magnificent chance to score against us, hitting with the heel, but Henry Avagyan pulled off a stunning save․

The teams ultimately settled for a 0–0 draw. The result most benefited league leaders Ararat-Armenia, who defeated Urartu 2–0 away in a parallel fixture to strengthen their grip on first place.

Notably, Pyunik will face Ararat-Armenia in just two days, on May 6th, in a rescheduled match from the 16th round.
