Pyunik earned an important three points against BKMA

In Round 25 of the Fastex Premier League, Pyunik hosted BKMA at the Avan Football Academy Stadium.

Following a painful defeat to Ararat-Armenia in the previous match, our team had complicated its chances of winning the title and could no longer afford any slip-ups in the remaining four matches of the season.

BKMA looked more dangerous in the opening 25 minutes and had at least three clear chances to score. Gor Arakelyan, Davit Harutyunyan and Petros Alekyan all failed to capitalize on their opportunities.

In the 31st minute, Pyunik missed a great chance of its own when Gevorg Tarakhchyan’s header somehow stayed out of the net. Just three minutes later, Lucas Villela could have opened the scoring if not for a reliable save by BKMA goalkeeper Davit Davtyan.

Nevertheless, Pyunik managed to take the lead before halftime. BKMA captain Argishti Petrosyan fouled Sergey Vakulenko inside the penalty area, and referee Ashot Ghaltakhchyan awarded a penalty after reviewing the VAR footage. Marius Noubissi confidently converted the spot-kick to score his seventh goal of the current league campaign and make it 1:0.

Pyunik looked more confident in the second half and gradually took control of the game. In the 70th minute, after a free-kick taken by Edgar Malakyan, Alemao nearly doubled the lead with a header, but the crossbar denied him.

However, two minutes before the final whistle, Pyunik earned a second penalty after substitute Momo Yansane was brought down inside the box. Yansane stepped up himself and calmly converted to seal the final score — 2:0.

Thanks to this victory, Pyunik moved up to second place with 48 points. Our team will play its next match on May 18 away against Gandzasar.
