Dmitry Gunko: "We could have scored the second goal and decided the outcome of the match"

Following the Armenia Premier League Matchday 10 game against Noah (1:1), our team's head coach, Dmitry Gunko, summarized the match and answered journalists' questions.

"Needless to say, it was a tough match. I think this was exactly the kind of contest we anticipated. Our players did a tremendous job studying the opponent and neutralizing their strengths. I can say that our plan worked.

In the first half, we allowed only two crosses and one header at our goal, which was a dangerous moment. The second chance came after the break, which unfortunately ended in a goal—undoubtedly the result of Lazetić's individual skill. In any case, I don't recall any other dangerous moments near our goal, even though there was some pressure from the opponent.

I must say that before the opponent's equalizer, we could have decided the outcome of the match. If Piquis had played more like a team player in that episode, the score would have become 2:0, and in that case, I believe we would have carried the game to a victorious end. Unfortunately, right after that missed opportunity, we conceded a goal.

David Hakobyan's successful performances?.. When I arrived at Pyunik, I learned that David Hakobyan was part of our team. I wanted to see him in my team back when I was still managing Urartu. For that reason, I was glad and asked where he was, and they told me he was currently with the Armenia U21 national team. We attended the match between the youth national teams of Armenia and Italy. I can say he played a wonderful game, and I found out it was only his second match after a long break. I said there was no problem, from now on he would play regularly, and I included him in the starting lineup."
