
One of our last opponents in the training camp is the Ukrainian Oleksandriya. The match will take place on Monday, February 13th, the exact time will be known later, but in the meantime, we introduce you to our opponent.
The first football club was formed in Oleksandriya in 1948. It was named Shakhtar and played in the tournament of physical culture teams. In the 90s, Polihraftekhnika became the representative of the city in the championship. For a decade, it played in the second strongest division of Ukraine, where twice won a bronze medal and according to the results of the 2000/01 season, qualified for the main league. A year later, the club was closed down and reestablished in 2004 under the name of PFC Oleksandriya. By 2011, the team had reached the top one division from the third one and in 2014 it was merged with PFC UkrAhroKom. This is how Oleksandriya football club was formed, representing the city in the Ukrainian Premier League for 8 years.
In the 2016/17 and 17/18 seasons, the team played in the qualifying rounds of the Europa League, and in 2019, thanks to the bronze medal won in the national championship, they made their debut in the group stage of the tournament.
The Oleksandriyans twice reached the semifinals of the Ukrainian Cup (15/16 and 20/21).
At present Oleksandriya places 5th in the Premier League under the leadership of Ruslan Rotan, who also coaches the Ukraine national youth team. As a football player, he repeatedly became a prize-winner and winner of national tournaments, in the 2014/15 season he reached the Europa League final with Dnipro.
Midfielder Vladislav Kalitvintsev is the player with the highest transfer value at Oleksandriya (€1.00m according to Transfermarkt). Defender Andrei Tsurikov played the most matches for Oleksandriya among the players of the current squad, 109 matches. This is the 15th rate in the history of the club.
Oleg Kozhushko, who played 14 matches for Pyunik in 2021, scoring two goals, plays for Oleksandriya.
