
We are happy to announce that after a long break, one of our club’s best players, 32-year-old defender Varazdat Haroyan, has returned to Pyunik.
Having finishing the Pyunik football school, Haroyan began his career in 2008 with the Patani team, which performs in the Armenian First League. On April 7, 2009, in the second leg of the 1/4 finals of the Armenian Cup against Kilikia (3:0), he made his debut for Pyunik. In the following season, Varazdat started performing in the main lineup of our team and gradually became one of the key players of Pyunik.
With Pyunik, Varazdat Haroyan became a three-time champion of Armenia (2009, 2010, 2014/15), a five-time cup winner (2009, 2010, 2012/13, 2013/14, 2014/15) and a three-time super cup winner (2010, 2011, 2015). In total, he played 181 official matches for Pyunik and scored 8 goals.
In summer 2016, Haroyan moved to the Iranian club Padideh, where he played for a year, before continuing his career in Ural Yekaterinburg. Later, the Armenian footballer played for Russian Tambov, Kazakh Astana and Cyprian Anorthosis. In 2021-22, Varazdat Haroyan played for Spanish Cadiz, where he scored 1 goal in 17 matches, becoming the first Armenian player to score a goal in the Spanish La Liga.
At the end of 2021, according to a poll conducted by the Armenian Football Federation, Varazdat Haroyan was named the best player of the year in Armenia.
Haroyan’s previous team was Qingdao West Coast, representing the Chinese Super League, where he has played since February 2024.
Varazdat Haroyan also played for the Armenia U17, U19 and U21 national teams, and in August 2011, in a friendly match against the Lithuania national team, he made his debut for the Armenian national team, where he played 89 matches and scored 4 goals. Since 2021, he has been the captain of our team.
