Pyunik defeated Lernayin Artsakh 7:2 in the first match of the quarterfinals of the Armenian Cup.
The first half passed with the advantage of the Pomegranates. Our guys scored twice against the rival; first, Temur Djikiya scored a beautiful goal from the penalty area, then Matas Vareika made an almost equally effective shot.
In the second half, our team was able to increase the advantage. Petros Alekyan, who came out as a substitute, passed the ball to Levon Petrosyan from the right wing, and the latter easily scored our third goal in this match. Pyunik scored another goal six minutes later; Djikiya had a brace.
The guests managed to score two goals thanks to Ilya Trinko and Milos Milovanovic. Pyunik gained a serious privilege in the remaining period of the game. Tigran Gevorgyan, who made his debut in the main team, stood out with a goal, Levon Petrosyan and Petros Alekyan also played productively once each.
Besides Tigran Gevorgyan, our academy alumni Aram Aharonyan and Marat Asatryan made their debut in the main team of Pyunik.
Yeghishe Melikyan’s team will hold the next match on March 9 against Urartu at Junior Sport.
