In the 23rd day of the Fastex Premier League, Pyunik hosted Shirak Gyumri at home. After the defeats suffered in the previous two games, our team was determined to win. From the very beginning, Pyunik put great pressure on the opponent. The first serious threat at the goal of the Gyumri team was created in the 9th minute of the match, when after Matas Vareika's shot, the opponent's defender blocked the ball's path, and Sani Buhari's shot who came to help was slightly inaccurate.
It didn't take long, and after just three minutes, Pyunik was able to open the score of the game. Alemao passed the ball to Sani Buhari from his half and the latter sent the ball over Darko Vukašinović into the opponent’s goal. In the 22nd minute, after a quick counterattack by Pyunik, our three players found themselves against one rival, and Matas Vareika managed to double the score. Five minutes before the break, our footballers played an impressive combination and Alemao, who was one of the best on the pitch addressed the ball to Serges Deble, who made the score 3:0.
At the very start of the second half, the other striker of Pyunik, Temur Djikiya, who replaced Serges Debles during the break, received a pass from Yusuf Otubanjo, faced the rival’s goalkeeper alone and scored the fourth goal against Shirak. Alemao and David Davidyan could also have stood out in the match, as well as Temur Djikiya had two more good opportunities to score.
Shirak players created their most real goal-scoring moment in the 72nd minute of the match, when substitute Cedric Doh’s shot went slightly high from an advantageous position. Pyunik did not get satisfied with what they had achieved and in the 76th minute, Mikhail Kovalenko, who appeared in the opponent’s penalty area, made the score 5:0 with an accurate shot. Ten minutes before the end of the match, Shirak’s captain Robert Darbinyan managed to score the goal of his team’s prestige. However, just before the referee’s final whistle, Pyunik newcomer Joel Bopesu masterfully sent the ball into Shirak’s goal with a free kick, making the final score 6:1.
After this match, our team will go on a two-week break due to international matches of the national team and after the resumption of the championship, on March 28, it will be received by Ararat-Armenia.
