Pyunik held the last match of the Fastex Premier League 2024/25 season, where they lost 2:3 to local Van in Charentsavan.
At the start of the match, our team was creating dangerous moments and was close to open the score, but in both cases we lacked productivity.
However, the first and then the second goals in the match were scored by the hosts. First, Momo Toure opened the score, then Akorede Usman Ajibona doubled his team's advantage.
At the end of the half, Yeghishe Melikyan's players managed to reduce the score difference; the goal was scored by defender Taron Voskanyan.
Six minutes after the start of the second half, the hosts restored their superiority. After the set piece, goalkeeper Sergey Mikaelyan left the goal post and tried to catch the ball in the air, but before he could reach it, Van’s player Klaidher Vittorio Bravin headed the ball into Pyunik's goal.
After the missed goal, our team moved ahead and again got chances but they failed to complete them successfully, in particular, after Serges Deble's long-range shot, the ball bounced off the post and Mikhail Kovalenko, who reached it, was unable to score.
However, Kovalenko got his chance and succeeded in finishing the attack with a goal. In the 8th minute added by the referee, Kovalenko was in the penalty area and made a beautiful shot with his right foot, capturing Van’s goal.
After this match, Pyunik goes on a short break. Yeghishe Melikyan’s team finished the season in 4th place, earning 53 points in 30 games, which gave us the opportunity to participate in the qualifying round of the Conference League in summer.
