Pyunik defeats BKMA and approaches the leading teams

In another round of the Fastex Premier League, Pyunik hosted BKMA.

After the defeats in the previous two games, our team definitely needed a victory in order to catch up with the leading teams in points and to psychologically recover.

It should be noted that the army team is not a "gift" for Pyunik, and, particularly in the last game between the teams, which had taken place within the framework of the previous championship, BKMA had managed to achieve a 2:1 lead over our team.

Compared to the previous game with Noah, one change was made in the starting lineup of Pyunik: instead of Stanislav Buchnev, our team's goal was again defended by Henry Avagyan, who had returned to the lineup after a minor injury.

From the very beginning of the match, Pyunik had a great advantage in terms of play and territory, and the goal didn’t make us wait long. In the 8th minute, after Marius Noubissi’s shot, BKMA goalkeeper Davit Davtyan acted inaccurately, and Daniil Kulikov, who had caught up with him, opened the score of the game, 1-0.

Pyunik continued putting pressure, and in the 26th minute, after Daniil Kulikov’s corner kick, our team captain Aleksandar Miljkovic, who appeared in the opponent’s penalty area, made the score 2-0 with a precise shot. The Serbian footballer scored the first goal for Pyunik after his return.

In the first half, our team had several good opportunities to score and could have won by a higher score, but Marius Noubissi, Eric Ocansey and the goal scorer Daniil Kulikov missed the favorable moments.

After the break, the game did not change, and the Pyunik players controlled the ball.

However, starting from the 60th minute, our defenders relaxed their vigilance for a moment and the BKMA young players took advantage of it. First, after Narek Hovhannisyan's shot, Henry Avagyan played brilliantly, masterly jumping and sending the ball to the corner, then, as a result of the army players' quick counterattack, Vyacheslav Afyan, who is a player of our team and is doing his military service at BKMA, was able to quickly bypass Mikhail Kovalenko and address the ball to Artur Askaryan, who had been left out of control, and the latter reduced the score to 2-1.

After the missed goal, our team was able to come together and a few minutes later, after Alemao's pass, Karlen Hovhannisyan almost restored the 2-goal difference with a header, but the ball went slightly wide.

Pyunik managed to maintain the winning score and, earning 3 points, approached the leading group.

Our team will play their next match on September 27, visiting Gandzasar.
