In the second leg of the 2025/26 Armenian Cup quarterfinal, Pyunik played away against the current champions and Cup holders, Noah, at the Abovyan City Stadium.
In the first cup match between the teams, Noah managed to win 2:1, but as our team’s head coach Artak Oseyan noted after that match, that was only the first part of the confrontation, and Pyunik is capable of neutralizing that small advantage of the opponent.
And indeed, in the first half of the return match, our team managed to level the overall score, even though Pyunik conceded first. In the 31st minute, Aram Khamoyan scored for the hosts — 1։0.
A few minutes later, after a pass from Gevorg Tarakhchyan, our captain Aleksandar Miljkovic reacted first in the box and sent the ball into Noah’s net — 1:1.
And in the 6th minute of added time in the first half, Karlen Hovhannisyan scored a beautiful long-range goal to put our team ahead and level the tie overall. By the way, it was Karlen's first goal for Pyunik.
Unfortunately, in the 86th minute, after a quick counterattack by Noah, substitute Marin Jakolis breaking into our team's penalty area from the left wing, sent the ball into the goal defended by Henry Avagyan with a weak shot and made the score 2:2, which was completely satisfactory for the home team.
In the final moments of the game, Pyunik pushed forward with the whole team, trying to score the winning goal. And moreover, they were very close to taking the lead again, but after Javi Moreno's shot, the ball only miraculously did not enter the Noah's goal. The match ended 2:2.
Pyunik was unfortunately eliminated from the Cup and will now focus all its efforts on the remaining matches of the championship.
