The 2025/26 season of the Fastex Premier League has come to an end. In the last round, Pyunik hosted Van at the Vazgen Sargsyan Republican Stadium.

Our team only needed a draw in this match to secure 3rd place in the league. However Pyunik still had a chance to finish in 2nd place if Urartu failed to lose to Noah in the parallel match, while Pyunik had to defeat Van.

It is noteworthy that the match against Van became Pyunik’s jubilee 900th game in the Armenian Premier League.

The game started unsuccessfully for our team, as the visitors opened the scoring already in the 3rd minute. Henri Avagyan made a mistake while passing the ball, after which Mauro Neto gained possession and quickly assisted Petros Avetisyan, who scored from close range to make it 0:1.

However, in the 20th minute our team earned a penalty after Saba Sidamonidze fouled Momo Yansane inside the penalty area. Javi Moreno stepped up and confidently converted the penalty to level the score at 1:1.

Then, six minutes before the end of regular time, Pyunik scored the winning goal and finished the season on a positive note. Edgar Malakyan delivered a corner into Van’s penalty area, where our Portuguese defender Filipe Almeida rose highest and headed the ball past goalkeeper Danila Bokov to make it 2:1.

Pyunik finished the league season in 3rd place, as in the parallel fixture Noah defeated FC Urartu 5:0 away from home. As a result, our team collected 55 points and finished five points behind champions Ararat-Armenia.

Let's add that in July, Pyunik will represent Armenia in the 2026/27 UEFA Conference League qualifiers.
