Shirak vs Pyunik: Match preview

August 25, 17:00, Gyumri, City Stadium, Matchday 4

In the previous matchday Pyunik unexpectedly lost 1-4 to Yerevan’s Ararat. It was our team’s first defeat in the last 10 matches of the championship. Last time Pyunik suffered defeat in the championship on April 7 this year conceding to Lori at home.

In the standings Pyunik goes on the 6th position with three earned points.  In two matches played so far our team’s Artyom Simonyan played most effectively scoring two goals in both matches.

In the upcoming match day 4  Pyunik will be hosted by Gyumri’s Shirak that places 4th with six points.

The match will take place at Gyumri City Stadium tomorrow on August 25 and will kick off at 17:00. The match will be served by Zaven Hovhannisyan.

In the previous championship our team, besides Noa (former Artsakh), perrformed successfully also against Shirak having three victories and one draw. Moreover, Pyunik twice gained advantage over Shirak when being hosted.

It’s noteworthy that in the last four matches held at Gyumri City Stadium (including the two Euro Cup matches of this year) Pyunik was invincible. Last time our team conceded to Shirak in an away match on March 31, 2018  when the Gyumri players sent two unanswered goals to Pyunik’s goal post.

It should be added that according to the decision of FFA President Artur Vanetsyan Erik Vardanyan’s and two other footballers’ disciplinary penalties have been suspended. Out team’s leading player was disqualified for five matches in the previous championship three of which he has already missed.
