After the end of the first part of the 2019/20 Armenian Premier League the best 6 teams have started the struggle for the prize places during 2 rounds while Pyunik, Urartu and Gandzasar-Kapan, placing 7-9, will compete with each other on the same principle playing 2 matches against each other.

Pyunik hosted the reigning champion and leader of the current championship, Ararat-Armenia, in the 18th day of the Premier League which concluded the first part of the championship. Unfortunately, our  team failed and conceded 0-3.

Moreover, last time Pyunik left the pitch without a scored goal on September 13 last year when in the 6th day of the Premier League lost to Alashkert 0-3.

It is noteworthy that in the match against Ararat-Armenia five footballers, Guy Mfingi Magema, Vladimir Sugrobov as well as young students of our club Erik Azizyan, Arsen Sargsyan and Norayr Ghazaryan, made their debut in official matches of Pyunik.

We may say the rest of the matches of the championship will be like  friendly matches as in practice they won’t be decisive.

Through these matches Pyunik will prepare for the next championship. Also, young players of our club will get a chance to show themselves.

In the 21st day of the Premier League Pyunik will host Urartu.

Urartu was the first team with which our team spent its first match in the current championship. On August 11 last year Pyunik celebrated a confident victory 3-0 against Urartu in the 2nd day of the Premier League.  Then our team’s Artak Yedigaryan, Artur Miranyan and Artyom Simonyan stood out.

And in the match of the second round that took place on October 20 Urartu, spending the most part of the match with 10 players, finally managed to win  2-1. Pyunik’s Artak Yedigaryan reduced the score but our team failed to do more.

The teams also met in the 1/8 finals of the current VBET Armenian Cup the full-time of which was a goalless draw but in the penalty shoot-out fortune smiled on Urartu.

As it is known Artur Miranyan, Artak Yedigaryan, Serhiy Shevchuk and Maksim Zhestokov left Pyunik after the terms of their contracts expired and Ugochukvu Ivu returned to Vanadzor’s Lori after his loan term ended.

Let’s note that Serob Grigoryan and Artyom Simonyan already train with our main team, and Pyunik trains under the leadership of Roman Berezovsky.

Pyunik vs Urartu match will take place at the FFA Technical Centre/Football Academy on June 9 and will kick off at 18:30.

The match will be served by Erik Galstyan.
