Before the start of the 2024/25 season, there have been changes in the coaching staff of Pyunik Academy. Head coach Davit Grigoryan and assistant Hovhannes Barbaryan will be replaced by Levon Stepanyan as a head coach and Stepan Harutyunyan as an assistant in the upcoming season.
Levon Stepanyan has been working in the family of Pyunik since 2021. The experienced specialist was the head coach of Pyunik 2007-2 before leading the Pyunik U18 team. Stepanyan also worked as an assistant coach in the Pyunik 2007-1 and Pyunik 2006 teams.
In the previous season, the Pyunik 2007 team led by Stepanyan, won the Armenian U18 Championship and the Cup and this year paved the way for us to the Youth Champions League.
Levon Stepanyan's career is rich in achievements both as a football player and as a coach. He won the Armenian championship with Ararat, as well as became a three-time cup winner.
Stepanyan started his coaching career in 2006. At the beginning of the journey, he was the assistant coach of the Rohan, Paykan and Naft teams, representing Iran's Premier League. Stepanyan also worked in Khun be Khun and Shardor in the same country. The coach also worked for Iran's U19 team for almost 3 years.
The 53-year-old specialist made his first coaching steps in Armenia in 2010, coaching Pyunik-2 (now Pyunik Academy) for 2 years. The coach also worked at Dilijan FC.
"I am very happy to assume the position of head coach of Pyunik Academy. I thank the club management for trusting me.
At the moment, we are doing our best to succeed in the Champions League, of course, not forgetting about the championship. The last time I coached the second team of Pyunik was 14 years ago and my goal to train players for the main and different age group teams has remained unchanged. I have worked with many players from this lineup and I know their potential."
Going back to the changes, we should mention that Stepan Harutyunyan, the assistant coach, started his coaching career in 2021, taking the first steps in Pyunik.
Harutyunyan spent 8 years as a professional footballer in the Armenian clubs Banants (Urartu), Lori, Ararat and West Armenia.
We wish our coaching staff and team good luck in the upcoming season and in the Champions League.
