Pyunik lost to Celje 1:4 in the second leg of the playoff round of the UEFA Conference League qualification.
The start of the match was not successful for us; James Santos was inexplicably sent off with a red card in the 11th minute. The Slovenians reacted quickly to the numerical advantage and got ahead in the confrontation thanks to the goals of Klemen Nemanic and Luka Bobicanec.
In the second half, it was the turn of Celje to receive a red card; the referee showed the second red card, this time to Mario Kvesic. In the 64th minute, Pyunik earned a penalty kick, which team captain Eugeniu Cociuc scored successfully.
Our team got a psychological advantage and put pressure on the rival, but the hosts effectively used the opportunities given to them. Armandas Kucys, who came out as a substitute, scored twice in the 74th and 86th minutes and won a ticket for Celje to the Conference League.
Pyunik ended the performances in the Conference League 2024/25 season with this game. Our next match is in the framework of the Armenian Premier League, against Shirak on September 1.
