Pyunik Academy claim a comeback victory

In Round 25 of the Armenian First League, Pyunik Academy hosted third-placed Hayq.

After the first half, the visitors were leading 2:0: Erik Azizyan opened the scoring in the 6th minute with a Williams Ipehe free-kick goal, and before the break Hayk were awarded a penalty, which Williams Ipeye converted confidently.

It seemed that Hayq would go on to win the match, but with five minutes remaining, our players showed great character and managed to turn the game around.

In the 85th minute, following a precise assist from Ashot Grigoryan, Aram Hovsepyan reduced the deficit with a header. Two minutes later, Vardan Melikyan passed the ball to Valery Hambardzumyan, who fired home from close range to make it 2:2.

Riding the momentum, our team pushed forward and in the second minute of added time snatched the victory. Vardan Melikyan carried the ball from his own half, beat two opponents and delivered a perfect pass to Tigran Gevorgyan, who rounded the goalkeeper and scored into an empty net — 3:2.

After this win, Pyunik Academy have 32 points and sit in 7th place in the standings. Their next match will take place on April 28 away against Ararat-Armenia-2.
