In the previous matchday Pyunik suffered its 6th defeat in the current championship. This time our team conceded 1-2 at home to Urartu, who spent almost the entire match with 10 players, and allowed the latter to come closer in the standings.
Pyunik also continues its bad habit of conceding goals; in 11 matches our team has conceded 22 goals, and only Yerevan, which goes on the last place in the standings, has conceded more goals (30).
It’s noteworthy that the match against Urartu was the first one for our team’s midfielder Alik Arakelyan in the current championship after a long break. Instead, Pyunik’s top scorer Artur Miranyan was missing because of an injury got in one of the last trainings of the Armenia national team.
As it is known the format of the current Premier League has been changed according which the teams first will compete in the first two rounds and then the strongest 6 teams will fight for the prize places in the remaining two rounds. The teams that will take the last 4 positions will compete for maintaining their place in the Premier League.
That’s why the result of each match (overall 7 matches) is of great importance for Pyunik because, having lost too many points in the previous matches, now our team places 7th and is 4 points behind Noah which places 6th.
It should also be noted that Pyunik has participated in the Euro Cups for 17 consecutive years and it will be a serious failure if our team doesn’t qualify for the Euro Cups this time.
Tomorrow, on 27 October, in the 12th matchday of the Premier League Pyunik will compete with Ararat, one of the leaders of the championship.
In the match of the first round between the teams Ararat won 4-2. It was our team’s first loss in the current championship.
