Tomorrow Pyunik will start performing in the Armenian Cup 2019/20.

As a result of a draw held in July our team will face Urartu in the 1/8 final.

As it is known the preliminary stage of the current cup was launched by the new teams of the First League, and both in the preliminary stage and in the 1/8 and 1/4 finals the teams will determine the winner in one match while the semifinals will consist of two matches. Let us recall that the team which will win the cup will get the right to play in the next Europa League.

Given the fact that Pyunik doesn’t do well in the inner championship our team will approach the current cup with all its seriousness for if it fails the championship Pyunik’s last hope to perform in the Euro Cups will be to win the cup.

In the previous cup Pyunik performed unsuccessfully and involving in it from the ¼ final conceded to Vanadzor’s Lori by the results of two matches (0-2,1-1).

It should be noted that during its history Pyunik has become the Armenian Cup winner for 8 times and is a record holder. Last time our team won the cup in season 2014/15 and played in the final in season 2016/17 where lost 0-3 to Gyumri’s Shirak in a decisive match.

It’s noteworthy that our team players Artur Kartashyan, Robert Hakobyan, Hovhannes Poghosyan, Karen Mkrtchyan, Artak Yedigaryan and Edgar Manucharyan have become cup winners with Pyunik in previous years.

Let us add that Pyunik vs Urartu match will take place at Republican Stadium and will kick off at 16:00.
