After a two-week break due to the matches of the national teams the Armenian Premier League has restarted.
In the previous matchday “Pyunik” finally managed to break the chain of unsuccessful performances and to celebrate an extremely important victory over one of the leaders of the championship, Gyumri’s Shirak, at home, 1-0. Before it our team had failed to win in the last four matches of the championship.
The author of the only and victorious goal in the match against Shirak, Denis Mahmudov, scored his 5th goal and caught up with Pyunik’s top scorer Artur Miranyan.
Note that Pyunik’s goalkeeper Andrija Dragojevic managed to keep the goal post inaccessible for the second time during the current championship. Last time he had played a goalless match in the first round against Urartu (3-0).
At this moment Pyunik places 7th in the standings with 16 points and concedes five points to Noah, going on the 6th position.
There are two matchdays left in the Premier League this year and the remaining three matches of the 2nd round will take place after the winter break after which the top 6 teams will become known.
In its penultimate match of this year Pyunik will be hosted by Yerevan, the obvious outsider of the championship which hasn’t scored any point yet.
In the match of the 1st round Pyunik could take an advantage over Yerevan, 4-1. Then Denis Mahmodov scored twice.
Yerevan vs Pyunik match of Day 14 will take place at Vanadzor Football Academy on 25 November and will kick off at 14:00.
Henrikh Nalbandyan will serve the match.
Pyunik’s defender Robert Hakobyan will miss the match against Yerevan due to disqualification.
